They Called Me A Bigot

Yeah, that's right. They called me a bigot! And it pissed me off. But before I flew off the handle, I looked up the word, just to be sure I was getting mad for the right reasons. You see, I don't have much practice in being a bigot. It only happens every 4th year.

According to the Oxford English Dictionary…

          ˈbiɡət/ noun A person who is intolerant towards those holding different opinions

Half a mo'! Now, what does tolerant mean?

 ˈtäl(ə)rənt/ adjectiave showing willingness to allow the existence of opinions or behavior that one does not necessarily agree with

Therefore, a bigot would be properly defined as “a person who is not wiling to allow others to hold different beliefs or opinions.” Something along those lines

But isn't that the very definition of a liberal? Yesterday, The Vulture printed an article quoting actor/musician, Michael Shannon, as saying, “There’s a lot of old people who need to realize they’ve had a nice life, and it’s time for them to move on because they’re the ones who go out and vote for these assholes...if you’re voting for Trump, it’s time for the urn.”

Excuse me, but who the Hell is the bigot!?! He's wishing me and you dead, folks. Our vote for Trump deserves the Death Penalty, according to Mr. Shannon. We need to start walkin' that Green Mile.

As a conservative, liberals are more than welcome to their beliefs and opinions IF they have a good reason for their beliefs and a solid foundation underpinning their opinions. Show me your logic, sweethearts!

But heavens! That is just not the case!

Prior to the election, I sent out a heartfelt, open-minded plea to my (then) 1,900 Facebook friends to please explain why they were voting for Hillary. The only caveat was that I wanted actual pro-Hillary reasons, not their anti-Trump reasons.

Well, it was pathetic. PATHETIC!

Instead of good, solid facts about the goodness of Hillary Clinton, I was treated to the same old tired bleating about Trump's supposed hatred of blacks, gays, women and Muslims. One or two friends had pro-Hillary reasons and it was downright refreshing. I thanked them for sharing, extended a hearty virtual handshake and we parted friends.

A fortnight after the election, nothing has changed. Actor Rob Reiner (“Meathead” in All In The Family) tweeted that the Mainstream Media is giving Trump a free ride. Excuse me!?! I think Archie gave you the right moniker. You are a “Meathead.”

Let's go over this again. I'll do it slowly so you liberals can keep up.

Wanting to deport extreme radical Muslims with terroristic intentions is not xenophobia. But you won't believe that, will you. Oh no! Trump is, is, is Hitler reincarnated. Who told you that? The Mainstream Media who refused to show the crowds at Trump's rallies. The Mainstream Media who fed you sound bytes instead of whole speeches. The Mainstream Media who so spectacularly over-sampled in their polls and then actually acted surprised when their candidate didn't cheat enough to win the election.

Making vulgar comments about women is not misogyny. (C'mon, buttercup. I bet you've said much worse. Be honest now, if you can.) But you won't believe that either, you holier-than-thou dip-shit.

I don't know where the Hell y'all got this homophobia nonsense. Oh, that's right. As If Mike Pence is gonna shoot electricity through all your brains...please! Get a grip! President-Elect Trump is the first Republican, in my memory, to have an openly gay individual speak at the RNC. Not only speak at the RNC, but he also welcome Peter Thiel to his Transition Team. But that doesn't mean diddly-shit to you, does it, libtards?

And I suppose you won't even consider that Trump might not be a racist (he's considering several African Americans for posts) and might not hate Jews (Hello! His son-in-law and close adviser, Jared Kushner, is Jewish!) Heavy sigh. Is there any way I can get through to you?

When you throw all these -isms and -phobias at me, I give 'em a think. Believe it or not, I actually consider them and compare them against the facts. If they're true, I believe them. If they aren't true, I don't believe them.

And they aren't true!

Liberals, you are welcome to your opinions, however wrong they are. I tolerate you and your wrong beliefs, however much they rankle. President-Elect Trump is big enough to rise about your hate. And I'm big enough to rise above it too.

But there's two things I won't tolerate: willful dishonesty and downright stupidity. That's what pisses me off. Not your beliefs, but how dishonest and stupid they are. The way you paranoiacly indulge in reductio ad absurdum. 

I don't wish an urn for you. I wish a wake-up call! An introduction to reality! A hot date with fact! The cessation of logical fallacies!

Do you hate me for voting for Donald Trump? Do you want to punch me in the mouth for supporting him? Do you want to beat me? See me dead?

Now, go ahead. Call me a bigot. Then take a long, hard look in the mirror. Cause, baby, I ain't no bigot! But you are.
