There's journalism...and then there are tabloids. Unfortunately, a lot of tabloid-style Conservative "News" sites have sprung up lately, telling the patriots what they want to hear ("Hillary Arrested!") with no clear sources nor accountability when they're upright, forthright, downright wrong.
Meanwhile they spam you unmercifully with advertisements for supplements and survival stuff and online stores and I-know-not-what making reading the article painful at best, impossible at worst.
I know why they do it. Just like this website, since January 20th they've too have seen their website traffic, and thus their income, decrease by 75%...or more.
Nevertheless, Patriots, this must not be. Fake News should belong only the Liberal Left. They have the franchise. We expect them to lie and they do it so beautifully, over and over again.
But we are called to a higher, more ethical form of Journalism. If we call ourselves "Patriots," then our word must be impeccable, our facts consistent and Truth (not money!) our goal.
Just to be clear, I'm not a germaphobe anymore. But I was raised to be one. I was in ICU as an infant and sick a lot as a child so it made some sense back then.
Growing up as the only kid in the lunchroom with a HandiWipe in her lunchbag, I knew about germs. It became like my super power. I used to brag, "I can follow a germ from here to the Great Wall of China," a flippant cliché that took on ironic meaning when the China Virus hit our shores.
Maybe it's this "super power" that helped me see the incredible futility of wearing masks and gloves and personal cover-all Teletubby bubbles and whatnot. By the time Americans got around to masking up in Spring of 2020, I'd shed all of those accoutrements as worthless.
But it goes deeper than that. Much deeper!
In my rare moments of not wearing my rose-tinted glasses, I think it's time we stop calling him "Dementia Joe." Biden may get angry, stutter and struggle to find his words, but you have to be on the ball to drop code words, twice, during a live Presidential Debate.
That's exactly what Joe did on Thursday evening when he gloomily stated, "We're about to go into a dark winter."
Then he repeated it again: "A Dark Winter."
What are the odds that he'd "accidentally" use the exact code name for a 2001 simulation of a "smallpox attack on U. S. Citizens."
I was the same kind, funny person the day I expressed my support of President Trump on Facebook as I was the day before. But you'd never know it from the bizarre reaction of the Liberal Snowflake who'd been my Facebook friend...up until that fateful day.
With f-words flying, she mumbled from behind her mask, "I should have known you were not a shafe shpace" and flounced out of my gentle cyber world into the real world full of those horrible, nasty Trump supporters.
Life must be Hell for her.
In the Good Ol' Days, it took really big things to divide-and-conquer. Religion. Race. Territory. Greed. Honour.
Now, all it takes is a 5" strip of fabric.
Saul Alinsky must be so proud.
If you're a fan of time travel shows, then you know it's entirely possible for one person to exist in two different timelines at the same time...theoretically.
Recently, I suddenly realized that many of my friends are still existing in the fear/isolation Timeline I "Tardis-ed" out of back in March 2020. That makes me terribly sad.
As someone who was raised in an Environment of Fear, I know how damaging it is. I hate what it did to me and what it's doing to my friends still living in the fear/isolation timeline for the best possible reasons: They love life and they love their families.
So here's my take on the whole "Covid Thing," a topic that's become so emotionally and politically loaded that only a foolish writer would "rush in where angels fear to tread."
But when has that ever stopped me!?!
