As we celebrate the 246th anniversary of our Declaration of Independence from Great Britain, it's a perfect opportunity to check in with Tyler and Kelsee...now fighting for the Freedom to be as independent as the wounds they suffered on August 26th, 2021 in Kabul, Afghanistan will allow them to be.
You remember Tyler Vargas-Andrews, of course. Did you know that just two days ago he was finally recovered enough to (briefly) return home for the first time since last August!?! What a welcome he received!
And who could ever forget Kelsee Lainhart whose indefatigable courage and resolve has seen her progress from smiling from her hospital bed to walking with a walker, swimming and even driving (soon!). Of course, we mustn't forget Oli: Kelsee Lainhart's adorable service dog and a great American patriot too!
Just one of the many endearing qualities of President Trump is how he never forgets anyone. He's the only politician who routinely reminds us that, in addition to the Brave 13 who perished in Afghanistan on 8/26, there were many brave young servicemen and one servicewoman who were gravely injured.
On September 2nd, I heard "11 are in stable condition, 1 is in critical condition and 3 are in serious condition." Of those, I was only able to find the names of five. It's been over three months since I wrote about them in my article, 15 Marines Recuperating at Walter Reed! Who Are They? Here's How We Can Help!
It's high time we check back in with them to see how they're doing, if they've been able to come home yet and how we can continue to help them and their families!
Silly me! I was so focused onthe tragedy of the Brave 13 we lost in Kabul on August 26th that I never thought to ask, "Yes, but how many of our brave servicemen and women were injured? How are they? Where are they? Who are they?".
As of September 2nd, "11 are in stable condition, 1 is in critical condition and 3 are in serious condition."
They have undergone multiple surgeries. Lost limbs. Suffered paralysis. But worst of all, they're also grieving for their friends and fellow Marines who died on August 26th.
What bothers me the most is how little their GoFundMes are requesting and how most haven't even reached those pathetic goals. C'mon, America!!! We're better than this!!!
Here's as much information about the wounded and their medical status as I've been able to find...their photos, relationships, families, social media, Caring Bridge, GoFundMe...so we can put a face to the name of our heroes and be generous in helping them!
